Gran Alacant is situated 15 minutes from Alicante International Airport. It is a popular holiday destination in the south of Alicante province. The resort consists of a number of urbanisations that have built up around the green area, el Cabo de Santa Pola, and the beach Carabasi. La Isla de Tabarca, was once a refuge for Berber pirates but today consists of the natural park of Las Salinas, an incredibly beautiful place to visit.

Santa Pola is a quiet resort suitable for both young and old. It is a few km south of Alicante between the N332 and the sea. Fishing and salt industry is of great importance to the city. Today, tourism is an important part.
In the middle of the city is the Renaissance castle built in the sixteenth century to defend against pirates. There are also archaeological museums where you can admire Iberian and Roman finds and a fishing museum which has a rich variety of marine items and an aquarium.
The fish auction is an experience. Every afternoon, the fishing boats come in with their catch, just before auction begins. It is not easy to keep up with the auction therefore you can instead go into the building next door and do shopping at the fish market. A little outside the city center is Salinas de Santa Pola, a salt lake with its rich birdlife, flamingos, herons and numerous other waterfowl. A paradise for bird watchers. It is possible to book a guided tour around the area.
The lighthouse, El Faro de Santa Pola, is located north of the city. Santa Pola has several beaches. All with great sandy beaches. A paradise for water sports. People have lived in Santa Pola since 4000 years before Christ. The Romans came in the first century. The area became known as “Portus Illicitanus” and became an important port. There are many archaeological finds from that period. The pirates also invaded Santa Pola, the Romans fell during the Middle Ages. Looting motivated residents to build, among others the fortress and the tower “Torres Vigia”.

La Marina’s gorgeous sandy beach with traditional restaurants by the sea is a perfect place for beach life.
Alicante Airport is only 20 minutes drive away. The road to La Marina is very good, the AP-7 motorway, comes down from Alicante airport and goes south to Murcia San Javier airport. While the N-332 runs directly past the outskirts of La Marina. South of La Marina is Bella Vista and Las Pesqueras and Guardamar del Segura, a larger coastal town with spectacular beaches.
North of La Marina is Santa Pola with fine sandy beaches and a great town center. Just north of La Marina are also several salt lakes which Salinas and some of Brac del Port, which creates a very healthy environment for people who suffer from health problems such as allergies or arthritis.
Enjoy a traditional Spanish experience by visiting the street market held every Thursday and Sunday from 8 am to 14 pm. Here you can find stalls selling local products like vegetables, leather goods such as handbags, shoes, belts and wallets.
LA MARINA URBANISATION.
In Spanish, the word Urbanizacion means residential area. La Marina is divided into three main areas: La Marina, La Escuera and El Oasis. It is well designed with several parks and green areas. La Marina urbanization has all the amenities. It has plenty of shops, bars and restaurants that you can easily walk to. There are four supermarkets. There are also newsstands, opticians, banks, etc.
By car you can visit the many interesting places nearby. Attractions such as the Rio Safari Park, between Santa Pola and Elche, and golf courses, of which there are many in the area. Do not forget a trip to the city of Alicante, where you can experience the best shopping. For culture enthusiasts a visit to the Castle of Santa Barbara is recommended.
La Marina is surrounded by some charming small towns and villages like Daya Vieja, Daya Nueva, Almoradi, Algorfa, Rojales, Formentera del Segura, San Fulgencio and Catral.
Guardamar del Segura

Guardamar del Segura is situated on the coast of the Alicante province. Eleven kilometers of fine sandy beaches, perfect for water sports and the wide range of accommodation on offer, making this an important tourist resort.
The Segura River runs through the town, and there are various archaeological sites such as the Phoenician city of La Fonteta and the Las Dunas Caliphal hermitage among others. The Municipal Archaeological – Ethnological Museum and the Engineer Mira House Museum are two more interesting cultural venues.
Guardamar also has various ecologically interesting natural areas. The Nature Reserve of Lagunas de La Mata, has a network of trails ideal for hiking and cycling.
